With the advancement in technology, many businesses are starting to accept a wide variety of payment options including Apple Pay. While Home Depot did accept Apple Pay at one point, many people are wondering if they still do.

Home Depot does not accept Apple Pay due to its deal with PayPal in 2012. For the foreseeable future, it does not look like Apple Pay will be an accepted payment method. However, they do accept many other forms of payment to provide their customers with options both online and in-store.

It’s frustrating to know that Home Depot doesn’t accept Apple Pay, especially knowing that Apple Pay is becoming a commonly-used payment method. Below, we will explain the reasons behind all of this, and provide you with payment options that Home Depot does accept.

Why Doesn’t Home Depot Accept Apple Pay?

Because it collaborated with PayPal, Home Depot no longer accepts Apple Pay. In accordance with the agreement, Home Depot encourages customers to use PayPal in person or through their website.

What If You Don’t Have A PayPal Account?

You must pay with cash, a debit card, or a credit card if you don’t have a PayPal account. Home Depot takes all types of gift cards in addition to debit and credit cards including:

  • American Express
  • Visa
  • Master Card

Additionally, Home Depot offers its lines of credit. So, you could shop at Home Depot with their credit card. This omits the need for Apple Pay, debit cards, and more!

Will Home Depot Accept Apple Pay In the Future?

Home Depot undoubtedly has some rational reasons for not accepting Apple Pay at the moment.

It’s possible that Home Depot will resume accepting Apple Pay in the future. That is extremely improbable, though, as long as they currently have an agreement with PayPal.

In 2012, the two reached an agreement. However, it is not known how long this agreement is, and whether or not the contract will be renewed.

Can You Use Apple Pay On The Home Depot App?

Home Depot offers its app in the Apple Store and Google Play Store, just like many other contemporary companies.

It serves as a simple tool for browsing products, getting store information, and seeing prices. Instead of being utilized for utility, it is intended to be used for convenience.

But, you still can’t use Apple Pay, as the store does not accept it, under any circumstances.

What Payment Options Does The Home Depot App Accept?

It goes without saying that using cash or a personal cheque is not an option with the app. However, you can purchase items through it using credit cards.

Along with the flexibility to use gift cards to pay off bills, the Home Depot card provides another practical way to make purchases.

The gift card might pay for the things, based on how much you spent. However, tax fees may cause one to exceed the allowed gift card balance.

This means additional payment methods, such as a credit card or PayPal, must be used to subsidize the remaining balance. The app contains a PayPal option that you can use to either make full purchases there or add money to your gift card balance.

When you are paying online at Home Depot, you can use a virtual card. However, you cannot do this in-store. Keep in mind that this excludes the Apple Pay Cash Card as well.

Home Depot has its eGift cards available for purchase, as do other sites. Since Home Depot accepts Visa, as long as the virtual card is of the same kind, this can also be used online.

Does Home Depot Accept Contactless Payment?

Most of the time Home Depot accepts contactless payment methods. However, most of these methods are strictly through PayPal as that’s the only method the NFC terminals will take.

So, Does Home Depot Take Apple Pay?
