Not everyone has the ability to be like Cinderella and scrub baseboards while sitting on your knees. Not only are some unable, but it’s such an uncomfortable position to sit in for so long! But is it even possible to clean your baseboards without kneeling?

To clean your baseboards without kneeling, you can use a dust mob with an extendable handle. You can also use a Swiffer wet jet to get into the nooks and crannies of your floor. If all else fails and you need to scrub, simply toss a cloth down and use your dust mop to scrub it back and forth.

Whether you need a different method of cleaning your baseboards due to a medical concern, or you simply just don’t want to be on your knees on hardwood, we have some tactics for you that you’ll want to check out!

How Do You Clean Baseboards Without Kneeling?

You can clean baseboards without leaning over and without kneeling if you follow the advice we provided below. For the most part, you’ll want to use items that will allow you to stand motionless while dusting and cleaning your baseboards.

How To Clean Your Baseboards Without Kneeling

Kneeling on hardwood is horrible. Not only can it cause pain, and exacerbate other joint problems; but it’s unnecessary. Below, we have some methods for you to try to take the brunt off your knees when washing your floors.

Use a Flexible Dust Mop

Get a dust mop made of microfiber and run the dust mop in a side-to-side motion while laying it flat on the baseboard. The longer chenille and microfiber strings will enable the dust mop to reach both the front and top of baseboards.

With this dust mop, you can efficiently dust baseboards while also cleaning your wood, linoleum, or tile floors.

To make the mop head clean and soft for the subsequent cleaning, chuck it in the laundry along with some vinegar when you are through.

Try a Flexible Duster Wand

There are flexible dusters with a telescopic wand that is perfect for floorboards in carpeted spaces and baseboards that are concealed by furniture.

Its telescoping handle allows you to adjust its length to reach baseboards without bending over. Additionally, because the microfibre duster is flexible, you may shape it any way you desire. You can also toss it in the washer when you’re finished to clean it up.

Use a Standard Floor Mop

After dusting, you can use a standard floor mop to clean the baseboards. However, we would only advise doing so if your floorboards are actually filthy. If the floorboards are not in a location with a lot of foot activity, you can frequently get away with simply dusting them.

The method you employed while using the dust mop in tip #1 will apply if you determine that your baseboards need to have a thorough cleaning.

Make an ordinary mop soapy and moist. Make sure to squeeze nearly all of the liquid out. Laying the wet, soapy mop flat on the baseboard’s front surface after turning it to the side. Next, sweep the baseboard front with the mop in a side-to-side motion.

Use a Cleansing Spray

Use a cleansing spray if you don’t want to lug around a bulky bucket of water to pair with your mop. Just fill a spray bottle from the dollar shop with water and a few tablespoons of dish soap. Spray the baseboard, then use this microfiber mop to clean it up.

Prevent Future Dust and Dirt Build Up

Utilize a substance that will stop dust from returning. The baseboards can be cleaned by rubbing a dryer sheet along them with a Swiffer wand. You won’t need to clean your baseboards as frequently because of how easily dust will “slide off” of them, thanks to the oils in dryer sheets.

Another suggestion is to apply Pledge on a microfiber towel and place it on the Swiffer pole. The dust will just slide off the boards, requiring less cleaning in the future, exactly like a dryer sheet.

Remember that if you use oily products on your baseboards, such as dryer sheets or Pledge Spray, you will need to thoroughly clean them with water and soap when you choose to refinish them with latex paint.

Is There a Tool to Clean Baseboards?

Although there isn’t specific equipment for cleaning baseboards without kneeling over, numerous gadgets can be modified to prevent you from stooping over or cleaning while kneeling.

These are the items we suggest:

  • Microfiber dust mop
  • Microfiber dust wand
  • Microfiber wet mop

As you can see, as long as the cloth, or mop, or duster has microfiber, you should be good to go. You could even use a microfiber cloth and your foot if need be. There are numerous tools available to clean your baseboards, you just have to get a little creative.

What is the Fastest Way to Clean Baseboards Easily?

Baseboard cleaning is more effective when done concurrently with other duties. Use a flexible floor mop, as mentioned in tip #1 above, to dust your floors and baseboards simultaneously. While you are cleaning your floors, use your usual mop to clean the baseboards.

Do Dryer Sheets Clean Baseboards?

Although dryer sheets don’t actually clean baseboards, they do coat them in wax and oil to help prevent future dust and filth accumulation.

So when you’re finished cleaning your floors, you can then use dryer sheets to more or less wax your floors. Or, you can just go get a wood flooring oil that does the same thing. However, the dryer sheets are the best if you are looking to do this on a budget.

How Do You Clean Baseboards with Vinegar?

For washing the baseboards, mix a quarter cup of vinegar with three glasses of hot water. Baseboards that were painted with oil should be protected from harm from the vinegar’s acid.

You can apply this to the boards by spraying or by using it in a regular mop bucket. This will act the same as a chemical cleaner but will be better if you’re looking for a natural cleaning option.
