Model numbers and serial numbers can be found on two labels attached to the machine’s back. Depending on the serial number, the following model digits are included in the recall. Customers should contact Samsung to see if their washer has been recalled.

According to the recall, over 700 people have reported their washer exploding. As a result of the explosion, some people were injured.

The details are sketchy, but based on images and Samsung’s initial synopsis, “the washing machine top can sudden detach from the washing machine chassis while in use, posing a chance of harm from impact.”

In collaboration with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Samsung Electronics America, Company revealed a recall notice of some top-load washers produced between March 2011 and October 2016.

The voluntary action was prompted by emphasizing the danger that the drums in these washers could lose balance, causing excessive vibrations and separating the top from the washer. This can happen when a heavy topspin cycle is used for bedding, water-resistant or heavy items, and it poses a risk of injury to customers.

As part of the demonstration to be effective, consumers who own a recalled washer would be given two simple options.

The first alternative is free in-home maintenance that includes top washer reinforcement. Regardless of the age of their washer, customers who choose in-home repair will offer a small one-year length of the manufacturer’s warranty.

The second scenario is a rebate which can be used to purchase a new Samsung or even other brand washer. Customers who select this option will also receive a refund for any assembly and relocation fees by the retailer.

The rebate amount is determined by the model and date of manufacture of the recalled washer. Customers who want a Samsung washer would then receive an extra loyalty incentive of up to $150 towards purchasing a new Samsung washer.

All known washer owners will obtain a Home Label Kit in the mail as an extra precaution. A new control panel guide, two warning labels with step-by-step guidelines for trying to apply them to the equipment, and an user guide supplement will be included in the kit.

Furthermore, customers who purchased a recalled washer within the last 30 days of the recall announcement are qualified for a cash refund from their original point of purchase.

Until the repair is finished, the washer is exchanged, or the Home Label Kit is installed, Samsung and the CPSC advise owners of the recovered washers to wash bedding, water-resistant, or bulky items on the delicate or waterproof cycles.
